Using Canadian Satellite Dishes in the Florida (USA)(Information supplied on this topic is from experience only, and in no way reflects policies, regulations, or laws from either Canada, USA, Manitoba, or Minnesota). |
General:

Ron Hays in Largo, Florida e-mailed me with some specific set-up
information on setting up an ExpressVu dish in Florida. Due to
Florida's southern location, StarChoice will not work that far south. His
e-mail was as follows:
This is to let you know that in Largo Florida I was able to get a 91 percent signal today..... On installing I had trouble with the elevation and azimuth.... But I found the satellite by:
Installed the RCA DSA 8900E 24 inch dish with one LNB in the center position..... RG-6 Cable directly to the satellite box.
Hooked up my Direct TV box to get a solid working elevation.... I found that I had to ADD 5 elevation to get the Direct TV signal so I added 5 to the expected 56 elevation for the NIMIQ satellite from this location...
With the larger dish and the LNB placement I started at the 197 (expected azimuth) and hit the satellite signat at approx 207. Everything I had showed the Azimuth at 197.43 and elevation at 56.08....but... I ended up at about Azimuth 207 and Elevation 61. If any ExpressVu users should need help or ask questions please refer them to me as I will help them (free)...... Take Care.... Thanks for the info:Ron Hays in Largo, Florida
